If you share your Roku streaming device with others, you can create a PIN to prevent them from making purchases or accessing restricted content on The Roku Channel. Follow the instructions below to access your PIN preferences, update to a new PIN, or reset your PIN if you don't remember it. If you only want to update your purchase and content preferences, you can enter your current PIN instead of entering a new one.
How to I access your PIN preferences
- Visit my.roku.com
- Sign in if prompted. For assistance, learn what to do if you have forgotten your email address or password.
- Under PIN preference, select Update
How to set a purchase PIN
Once you access your PIN preferences, follow the steps below to set a purchase PIN.
- Go to Making purchases and adding content and select either of the following.
- Always require a PIN to make purchases and to add items from the Channel Store.
- Always require a PIN to make purchases.
- Go to Change current PIN. If you do not have PIN yet, go to Create PIN.
- Enter the PIN you want to use
- Select Save Changes
How to set a Parental Controls PIN for The Roku Channel
A Parental Controls PIN uses MPAA and TV ratings to restrict playback of select content within The Roku Channel. It does not hide, filter, or affect playback outside The Roku Channel; nor does it prevent users from accessing content on other streaming channels or platforms (such a provider's website or mobile app).
If you choose to use a PIN for parental controls, you will enter it the first time you access restricted content after turning on your Roku device.
Once you access your PIN preferences, follow the steps below to set a parental controls PIN.
- Go to Parental Controls for The Roku Channel and select any of the following:
- Little Kids -Content rated G and TV-Y, TV-G may be watched without a PIN.
- Young Kids - Content rated PG, TV-Y, TV-G, TV-Y7 and TV-PG may be watched without a PIN.
- Teens - Content rated TV-14, PG-13, PG, TV-Y, and TV-G may be watched without a PIN.
- Go to Change current PIN. If you don't have PIN yet, go to Create PIN
- Enter the PIN you want to use
- Select Save Changes
