Just like your smartphone has an “app store” for installing new applications, you can access the Roku Channel Store on your Roku® streaming player or Roku TV™ to add new “channels”. Channels are applications for your television; popular channels include Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, HBO GO, Hulu and YouTube. Additionally, current generation Roku devices include access to The Roku Channel, which features hit movies and TV at no cost to you.
In addition to movies and TV shows, the Roku Channel Store provides access to music channels such as Pandora, Spotify, Vevo and iHeart Radio, as well as channels for sports, news, weather, religion, travel, education, shopping, themes, screensavers, photo applications, personal media, games and more.
Adding popular channels during setup
When you activate your Roku streaming device, it must be linked to a Roku account. After you create your account and enter the link code, you have the opportunity to add popular channels directly from the website.
If you install a channel and later decide you do not want it, the channel can easily be removed from your Roku device.
- Note: Some channels offer a free trial (e.g., a 7-day free trial). However, when a free trial ends, that channel is converted into a regular subscription and you are billed on a reoccurring basis. To avoid this, cancel your subscription before the trial period expires.
