Before you can add channels and start streaming media content on your Roku® streaming player, you need to create a Roku account. This can be done before your Roku device is set up, or you can wait and create your Roku account when you activate your Roku device.
Regardless of when you decide to create your Roku account, it is important a valid email address is used allowing you to manage your account and receive important account notifications. Similarly, you should choose a strong, secure password.
Note: There is NEVER a charge to create a Roku account.
Before your Roku device is set up

When you first power on your Roku device, the guided setup will begin automatically. This process will help you establish a connection with the internet, configure preferences and settings, and activate your Roku device. During the activation phase, you will have the opportunity to link your Roku device to an existing Roku account, or you can create a new account.
