How to set up your cable, satellite, or universal remote to control your Roku TV™

The remote that is included with your cable or satellite box may be able to be programmed to control certain functions of your Roku TV. Select universal and replacement remotes can also be programmed for use with Roku TV.

How do I program my cable, satellite, or universal remote to control Roku TV?

First, identify your service provider and locate the remote model. If the remote model is not printed on the rear or face of the remote, look inside the battery compartment. If you cannot find the remote model, contact your service provider.

Find the code in the chart below and use the instructions from your service provider to program your cable or satellite remote.

  • Note: Not all buttons on your Roku TV remote can be programmed to the buttons on your cable or satellite remote. The level of button support for specific remotes is categorized in the table below as one of the following.

    • Basic – Power, volume, and input select.
    • Expanded – Basic button support plus back, home, up, down, right, left, replay, options (or star button), play/pause, reverse scan, and forward scan.
