I am having problems linking my Roku player, what should I do?

Follow these suggestions if you are having trouble activating/linking your Roku player:

I entered the link code on the web page and submitted, but nothing is happening on the TV.

Although the web portion is quick, there are a few steps to follow in order to complete the linking process and to help improve your streaming enjoyment.

If you are linking a Roku player to an existing Roku account:

  1. Visit roku.com/link to enter the link code, then click Submit.
  2. Chose Already have one.
  3. Enter Roku email and password. (Help reset my password)
  4. Enter a payment method or scroll down to skip for later.
  5. Add some channels and scroll down to click Continue.

If you are linking a Roku player and need to create a new Roku account:

  1. Visit roku.com/link to enter the link code, then click Submit.
  2. Chose the create new account
  3. Enter your details, check the confirmation items, and click Continue.
  4. Select a PIN option and click Continue. (What is a PIN?)
  5. Enter a payment method details, then scroll down to click Submit info. (Why is payment method required?)
  6. Add some channels and scroll down to click Continue.

In either case, after the last step, the Roku player is now linked to your Roku account and will sync any new or previously installed channels.

The web page shows that the Roku player has been successfully linked, but the link code is still showing on my TV.

  1. Log into your Roku account from a browser (roku.com) to see if it is already linked. (look for the Roku player serial number under My linked devices.)
  2. If the serial number does not appear as a linked player, go back to your TV and select Help, then Get a new code.  Enter the new code at roku.com/link.
  3. If the serial number does appear as a linked player, wait a few minutes to let the update appear on the Roku player.
  4. If the player does not update, even after waiting, restart your Roku player, begin the setup process again, and see if that resolves the problem.

There may be a delay between the time it takes to update your Roku player and the message you see on the TV.  Please wait a few minutes before getting a new code.
Occasionally, the Roku service may be under maintenance, or experiencing a service interruption, resulting in slower or no response.
In this case, you can check the Support.roku.com home page for any alerts.

I get a link code but the web page will not accept it.

Select Help then Get a new code.  Enter the new code at roku.com/link.

If a new code does not work:
Reset the Roku player to factory defaults. (show me how)

Note: The link code will expire after a period of time. If this happens, try the steps above to get a new code and attempt to re-link the Roku player first before resorting to factory resetting the Roku player.

Still no luck? Contact Roku Customer Support here. We’ll be happy to help.
